Internet Update: At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, a fiber line was cut between Raleigh and Rocky Mount, leading to an interruption in internet and phone services for all NCPS . Good evening, this is Timothy Mudd, principal at Parker Middle School with your weekly message. Next week students will take NC Check-ins, state benchmark assessments. The Math benchmark will be given to students in Math 1, 6th grade, and 7th grade on Wednesday. Benchmarks will begin first thing in the morning and we will follow state testing guidelines, which means no cell phones are allowed in the test session and students can not be admitted to or removed from the test session once it starts. Students who disrupt a test session may cause a misadministration and will be suspended from school. Please ensure your child is present at school on time Wednesday and has a charged school laptop. Thursday, November 16th is the half-way point of the grading period. We strongly encourage you to come pick up your child's progress reports and speak to your child's teachers on Thursday, November 16th from 5:30-6:30 PM. Students must pass their classes or the EOG in order to be promoted to the next grade level. Currently, we have nearly 100 students who are in serious jeopardy of being retained based on their current grades. Please contact your child's teacher or the guidance department if you are unable to access your child's report card via email or the parent portal. If you have not signed up for the parent portal, please stop by the school with your ID to get registered, so that you can monitor your child's grades from your phone. Next Thursday, November 9th is an early release day; school will dismiss at 1:30 PM, please make arranagments to ensure your child is picked up on time. There is no school on Friday, November 10th for Veteran's Day. Thursday is also our first PBIS celebration for students who qualified based on grades and behavior. Students will be notified next week if they qualify and students who qualify can dress out of uniform on Thursday. The ECPS and NCPS Demerger/Transition Plan Team convened on Monday, October 16, for a joint meeting. They delivered presentations to the Nash County Public Schools Board of Education, Nash County Board of Commissioners, Edgecombe County Public Schools Board of Education, and Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners during the meeting. The submission of the transition plan to the state is scheduled for November 15.

First, please note that Thursday, October 19th is an early release day; school will dismiss at 1:30 PM and all students should be picked up by 2:00 PM.
