Good evening, this is Timothy Mudd principal at Parker Middle School with your weekly message. We have exciting news to celebrate! The State Board of Education officially shared the 22-23 school performance data this week. For the first time ever, Parker Middle School students exceeded growth. Parker's academic growth was in the top 15% of all schools, ranking us higher than over 2,300 other schools across the state! In addition, our student's scores in 8th-grade math, math 1, 8th-grade reading, 8th-grade science, overall math proficiency in 6th-8th grade, and overall school proficiency are higher than at any time over the past 10 years. We still have plenty of room to grow and improve, but I want to commend our students and staff for their hard work and growth last year. The best part is that we are only getting started. We continue to raise the bar for all students and staff every day to ensure our students continue to grow. Don't forget to download the NCPS app so that you can stay up-to-date on everything happening at Parker. In addition, the app allows you to communicate with your child's teachers. It is a one-stop shop. Invitations were sent to the parent email address listed in PowerSchool. Please contact the school to update your information if you did not receive your invitation. Finally, fall sports begin next week. The football and volleyball teams travel to Southern Nash on Wednesday. The volleyball game is at Southern Nash Middle and the football game is at Southern Nash High; both games begin at 4:00 PM. Admission to all middle school sporting events is $5.00 for students and adults. We hope to see you out supporting the Pirates next week. Please help ensure your child is at school and in class by 8:30 AM and stays for the entire school day until dismissal at 3:30 PM. We thank you for your support and hope you have a great weekend. Go Pirates!
